Alcanada Golf Club: among the best in Europe

Alcanada Golf Club: among the best in Europe

Are you thinking of spending your next holiday in Mallorca and would you like to stay near a good golf course? The island has 23 fields and its small size make it easy to move from one to another in a short time. Thanks to this and its climate that allows enthusiasts to play 365 days a year, the island is visited by thousands of visitors annually who want to enjoy their favourite sport. In particular, many visitors come from Germany and the United Kingdom, as most of the golf courses in these countries are under snow in winter.

If you decide to stay at the Miramar Collection Apartments, you should know that less than 15 km away there is one of the best golf courses, not only in Spain, but in the entire European continent—the Alcanada Golf Club. This club has received numerous recognitions from journals and specialised guides. Among them, number 1 in Europe for the 7th consecutive year on the website and 10th of Spain in the Golfer’s Choice 2017 on the website

It is true that on the island there are golf courses that have been around for several decades, but the fact is that the Alcanada Golf Club has managed to gradually gain a foothold among all the golf courses of the island, being currently one of the top-rated by the most experienced players. It is located a few kilometres from Puerto de Pollensa and Alcúdia, but completely away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist complexes.

Opened in 2003, it was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the son and brother of two other prestigious golf course designers. It offers a very exciting game for both players who are starting out and experienced players—boasting a great variety of holes, 58 greens and bunkers. Added to this, the course offers spectacular views of the sea, the lighthouse and the bay of Alcúdia, and the opportunity to play golf surrounded by lush olive and pine groves.

But it not only does it offer an exciting course to play golf on, but it also provides many other facilities. It has a covered driving range and a short game area for those who want to improve their technique. But there are also training courses and customised classes offered in several languages. On the other hand, in the clubhouse, located in a magnificent stone building of traditional Mallorcan architecture, we can find a shop selling all kinds of articles related to golf—such as clothing, hats, shoes, clubs and balls—and a huge restaurant with a wonderful terrace overlooking the sea where waiters and cooks always offer exquisite food and service.

We already have the special prices of the 2018 season available for guests of the Miramar Collection Apartments.

The green fee can be paid at the reception of the Hotel Miramar or you can make the reservation previously through our website. This must be presented at the Alcanada Golf Club reception desk and comply with the rules of etiquette required by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews and the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, as well as with the local rules of the Club itself. You can get to the golf course by taxi, and the fare is approximately 15 euros one way.
